GESS INTERNATIONAL has successfully placed the Japan Country Manager of a World-Wide Top-3 Semiconductor Company dealing in products for the analog and mixed-signal market. The GESS Client is a Silicon Valley company which designs, develops, manufactures and markets a range of linear and mixed-signal integrated circuits. The company markets its products into the industrial, communications, consumer, automotive and computing markets. The company has also been growing as a result of acquisitions as well as organic growth both in Japan and world wide.

GESS engaged the client through its operations in Corporate HQs in Sunnyvale through a personal referral from a Venture Capital Fund. It was far from a normal search -- the Senior VP of Sales and Marketing was uncompromising on his standards and had screened over 100 resumes from various sources before deciding upon a two-tiered approach: using one internal recruiter and one outside recruiting company for Japan. GESS is happy to have been the only company officially engaged for this search in Japan.

Working closely with both the Senior Management and the internal recruiter a direct approach was adopted by GESS with Active scouting and Cold-Calling of Candidates -- the client was clear that they did not want a "data-base search." An initial selection of six GESS candidates was narrowed to two, but eventually, even these were rejected. We threw ourselves into the work and through the a sheer amount of very hard work generated a top-class candidate. Once the candidate was found, conscensus was quickly reached within the client company and the hire was made within six weeks.

In this search GESS consistently outperformed the larger competition, was selected from a long list of providers to remain the choice for Hi-Tech recruiting excellence in Japan and Asia-Pacific.
